Gods Plan for Me

What is Gods plan for me? Can you imagine how excited Abram must have been! God spoke to Abram, revealing his plans for Abram and Sarai. I can just see him rushing home as quickly as he could to give the good news to Sarai. Honey, I know Gods plan for me! We are going to move! And guess what, God is planning of making a great nation from us, that means you really are going to have a baby!

1 Now the LORD had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.

2 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:1-3, New King James Version

Gods Plan for Me

Remember that Abram's father left home with his family years before to go to Canaan, but they only got as far as Haran in Mesopotamia. That is not where God wanted Abram to be. So He began His talk with Abram by saying,

Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.

But, you may ask, What is Gods Plan for Me? If you are like me, I spend far too much time worrying about the future. First I worried about my future, and now I worry about the future of my daughters still in their teens. How foolish! God will make His plans known to us. He keeps us in His care, and leads us in the way that He wants us to go. What a comfort!

But that wasn't the only news.

I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.

Can you imagine how Sarai must have jumped for joy! Finally, her curse of being barren would be removed, and she would have her very own child. However, as we will see in later devotions, many things would happen before God finally fulfilled those words.

Do you find yourself very impatiently waiting for God to answer your prayers? Just because you have not yet received an answer to your question, "What is God's Plan for Me?" yet (or at least the answer you were hoping for), that does not mean that God will not answer that prayer. Yes, I know, God always answers our prayer with a yes or a no or maybe with, not now. But often, God will answer the prayer as we are hoping, but it may be far in the future. Do we have enough faith to keep praying all of that time?

These are some good things to think about. And remember, God is God, and we are not!
