Who is God our Leader? Exodus 33 we see God leading Moses, Does God still lead us today just as He led Moses?
Then the Lord said to Moses, "Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
Exodus 33:1-2
I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:17
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.
2 Corinthians 2:14
Who is God our Leader? In the Bible passages shown above we see God leading Moses, God leading His people, and God leading His people to spread the Gospel everywhere. Does God still lead us today just as He lead Moses in Exodus 33? Is there a specific relationship between these three passages?
In Exodus 33, God is leading Moses to bring the Children of Israel out of Egypt. In the Old Testament God mostly works through the Israelites in establishing His church. He sets apart a nation to love and serve Him. Not every Israelite, however, is a Christian; salvation is still very personal.
In the Proverbs passage, we understand that God leads His children in the way they should go. That promise is just as true for us today as it was to the nation of Israel under Solomen's rule. God has a plan for bringing salvation to His people; as Christians, we are part of this plan. We plan and worry and fret about the future, but the future is entirely in God's hands. For reasons I will never understand, God's plan is to use the weak (that's us) to confound the wise. He continues to spread the Gospel message through us.
2 Corinthians 2 is a two-fold promise explaining that through us [God] spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. God puts us in all kinds of vocations and circumstances of life so that we will be a light shining for Him wherever we are. This passage also explains that we are part of the triumphal procession in Christ. Christ is leading us while here on earth, and He will lead us to heaven to be with Him forever. It is a triumphal procession meaning that the battle is already won; Satan is already defeated!
Are you looking for meaning or purpose in you life? As a Christian, you have a purpose in Christ. Observe the talents and likes and dislikes God has given you; use these observations for direction in choosing your vocation in life. Are you stuck in circumstances you hate? Pray for grace from God to live in peace amidst your circumstances knowing that God has put you there for a reason. Pray for God to lead you into better circumstances.
Who is God our Leader? He is the Giver of Life, the Sustainer, our Only Hope, and all our righteousness.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
