Blind Shall See. How blind is blind? That may seem like a foolish question, but just think about it for a moment. We live in a world that is, for the most part, being led by the blind!
11 And the vision of all is
become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver
to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I
cannot; for it is sealed: 12 And the book is delivered to him that is
not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not
learned.
13 Wherefore
the Lord said, For as much as this people draw near me with their
mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart
far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this
people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their
wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall
be hid. . . .
18 And
in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of
the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. 19 The meek
also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall
rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 29:11-14 and 18-19, KJV
How blind is blind? That may seem like a
foolish question, but just think about it for a moment. We live in a
world that is, for the most part, being led by the blind! That is a very disconcerting thought. Of all people, we certainly do not want to have leaders who are so blinded by the things of this world that, in actuality, they really cannot see. Yet, that is exactly what we have!
Who do we look
to for leadership? Who do we exemplify? Who are our heroes? Who or what
do we really worship? This is a presidential election year in the United States, so these are really questions we should be asking ourselves.
And
the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is
sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I
pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed.
God
is not fooled! He looks beyond the showy, outward appearance and sees
the heart. He sees a people who draw near to Him with their mouth and
honor Him with their lips, but their heart is far removed from Him.
Their fear of Him is based upon precepts taught by men.
In
a world that is crashing forth toward doom and destruction, the
Christian is called by God to see! God opens the ears of the deaf and
the eyes of the blind. The Christian is called to see beyond the
foolishness of man and the wisdom of this world, because the blind shall
see!
We, as believers, need to find ourselves immersed in God's Word. We need to not only know and understand that Word, but we need to live and practice it all of the days of our lives. Christians have a God-ordained purpose for the years they remain on this earth. May we be busy helping those who are blinded by the culture in which we live to see the truth. God is God and there is no other!
Look to Christ today to
lead and guide you; do not lean upon the statutes and decrees that are
raised up in defiance to the only wise and true God, our Father. Are you
blind? Pray to God to open your eyes that you may see!
