Spiritual Mind. God has built a strong city for us, and has opened the gates for all of His people. No matter what storms and catastrophes may occur outside the walls of this city, there is no need of fear inside the strong walls that God has built.
“ We have a strong city;
God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks.
2 Open the gates,
That the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.
3 You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:1b-3, NKJV
God calls us, as His children, to have a mind that is stayed upon Him. Perhaps you have known someone, maybe even yourself, who seems to suffer affliction after affliction and yet accepts each new trial with a face toward God and a mind of perfect peace. How can that be possible? We may have even accused such a person as not being willing to face reality; or we, like Job's three friends, might surmise that this person is being judged by God for their great sins.
That
dear Christian understands this passage from Isaiah 26. In truth, God
has built a strong city for us, and has opened the gates for all of His
people. No matter what storms and catastrophes may occur outside the
walls of this city, there is no need of fear inside the strong walls
that God has built. As we continue our Christian journey, we begin to
realize more and more that God truly does keep us safe, and safely
brings us into His kingdom. Oh yes, afflictions will come, but these are
measured afflictions God allows to strengthen our faith in Him.
Remember,
Christ is everything; He is all we need! God truly will keep us in
perfect peace when our minds are stayed solely on Him.
A mind that is focused upon the Lord Jesus Christ is a humble mind. Paul put it this way in Philippians 2.
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
Philippians 2:5-7, NKJV
The Lord Jesus Christ left the glories of heaven to come to this earth and life a life of humble service and finally ended in His death. Why? Christ came to this earth to redeem a people for Himself. He did not get caught up in the tantalizing temptations of this world but, instead, remained focused on His purpose for being here.
Let us, like Christ, focus on our God-given reason for being here. Let us have a mind that is stayed upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us cast off the temptations of this world and live our lives in complete service to God.
Pray today that God will give you a spiritual mind totally stayed on Him.
