God Be with You, Romans 15 & 16, 2 Thessalonians 3. Where would we be without the grace of God? Lost! Nothing in and of us deserves the salvation God grants to us.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Romans 15:33, KJV
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Romans 16:20, KJV
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
2 Thessalonians 3:18, KJV
Sometimes we miss things because of the very simplicity of the statement. The three Bible benedictions shown above were all written by the Apostle Paul. They are succinct and yet filled with blessings for the Christian.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Let's ponder the opposite of this statement. What if the God of peace
is not with us? It is not too hard to imagine the inner entanglements of
the heart we would experience. All we have to do is look around us! How would there be peace when we lose a loved one, or lose our home in
a tornado, or lose our job? Yes, the Christian suffers just like the
non-Christian, but in the end the Christian knows that the God of peace
is with him.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Where would we be without the grace of God? Lost! Nothing in and of us
deserves the salvation God grants to us. It is an example of our Lord's
pure, unadulterated grace. Ponder that for a moment and cast all of your
foolish pride on the Lord Jesus Christ. How we fight pride! At least, I
know that I do! When we understand that our salvation comes full and
free from God alone, through the blood of Christ, there is no room for
an ounce of pride!
We, as children of God, are so prone to get caught up in the things of this world, for this is what we see. It is often hard for us to put our priorities in the things that are more important: the life to come. Let us, by the grace of God, seek Christ in everything we say and do that we might be an example before the people of this world of the more important things to consider.
Let us not take for granted the help and strength that are ours through the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything we are and everything we accomplish are done so in the strength and power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Three simple benedictions, and yet so packed full of meaning.
Now the God of peace be with you all. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
