Jesus In Us! How can that be? How amazing that, not only did Jesus remember to send the Holy Spirit to comfort us, but that the Holy Spirit would actually live in the heart of every believer. He promised us, in John 14, "Ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you."
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
(John 14:17-20, King James Version)
I in You
Comfort! What a beautiful world. Jesus was leaving in a little while, but He would not leave his disciples comfortless. Yes, even now, 2000 years later, Jesus does not leave us comfortless either.
Though He would be leaving the world, and the world would no longer see Him, His children would always see Him because He lives. He lives today not only in heaven at the right side of God the Father, but also in the hearts of each of His children. How amazing is that?
The question that should be asked is, do we live in the comfort of the Lord? Do we live as though Christ lives within our hearts? How quickly we allow the things of this world to overcome all thoughts of our Lord Jesus Christ! That should not be! It is as though God reaches out and offers comfort, yet we turn our back on Him and look to the world for comfort that it cannot give.
Let us lift up our hearts this day, and rejoice in God who leads us, guides us, and never forsakes us.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
So let it be!
