Jude Doxology. As Christians, Jude reminds us of a wonderful truth. We come to the Lord as babes in Christ, and though we grow in our faith and our knowledge of Him, we never get to the independent stage where we can do it ourselves.
24 To him who is able to keep
you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without
fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory,
majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all
ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Jude, Verses 24-25, NIV
The Jude doxology is one of my favorites; though the book of Jude is only one chapter long, it contains a rich message. Just look at all that Jude includes in these two verses.
If
you have had children, you can all appreciate the time your children
reached the stage of, "I can do it myself". We want them to grow and
learn to be independent, but they always seem to be reaching out before
they are ready.
As
Christians, Jude reminds us of a wonderful truth. We come to the Lord
as babes in Christ, and though we grow in our faith and our knowledge of
Him, we never get to the independent stage where we can do it
ourselves. Oh, we may think we do, but Jude reminds us that it is Christ
who keeps us from falling, and then presents us before the throne of
God without fault.
What
joy we have in Christ who has done everything for us to bring us before
God. What an amazing God we have who did not give up on us, but
provided a way for us to come to Him as faultless by the blood of the
Lord Jesus Christ who died in our place.
Why did God do such a thing? Why has He chosen a people from among sinful man, opened their eyes that they may see and understand the truth, and brought them before Him as though they were faultless--without sin. Do we deserve such a thing? Did God see something in us that made us better than our unsaved neighbor? No! In spite of our sin and degradation, God saved us and now grants us grace that we may understand the truth of His Word, the Bible.
No longer do we run after the things of the world, for we understand that all of these things will pass away. However, the Word of God stands forever. In Christ we have everything we need for this life and for the eternal life to come. What an amazing God we serve!
How do we respond to God? Like Jude, we say,
To
the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through
Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
