A Bible Devotion from Psalm 40
He Set My Feet Upon a Rock
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth--Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.
The 40th Psalm, verses 1-3, NKJV
Have you every wondered why God doesn't take us to heaven the moment we become a Christian? Why must we stay so long in this world that is so full of envy, hatred, and strife?
Never forget that it is God alone who saves us, and that we are saved for a purpose! It is God who hasbrought me up out of a horrible pit . . . and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. The normal, natural Christian life is a life of praise and joy to God. Not just the showy kind of praise and joy, but it's a new song in our heart that produces a peace and joy that becomes visible to all of those around us.
When peace and joy in spite of circumstances are evident in our life many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord. This does not mean we are happy happy happy all the time; but rather, we have such a complete confidence and trust in God in all of our experiences in life, that we are filled with a deep inner peace.
Pray today that God will grant you complete confidence and trust in God that will be evident to all of those around you.
