Rabboni! Lost in her grief, Mary was unable to recognize the One she was so ardently seeking. Seeing a man, whom she presumed to be the gardened, she spoke. Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
15. Jesus
saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She,
supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have
borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him
away.
16. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
John 20:15-16, KJV
Lost in her grief, Mary was unable to recognize the One she was so ardently seeking. Seeing a man, whom she presumed to be the gardened, she spoke.
Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
How did Jesus respond to her? One word--Jesus spoke one word to her, "Mary." She turned to face Him. "Master."
Do we see our Lord Jesus Christ? Are we, like Mary, so caught up in the distresses of this life, that we fail to see Him standing right beside us? I fear that is true for far too many of us. We are earthlings, so caught up in this world that we cannot even raise our eyes heavenward to see our Lord and Savior constantly by our side.
How can we change that? What can we do to really see our Lord Jesus Christ. Actually, the answer is much easier than we think. God has given us His Holy Word to teach us to know and love Him. In its pages are revealed all that we need to know to live this life in a manner that is pleasing to God.
Mary spent years with her Master, and truly knew Him. We have an even greater opportunity to immerse ourselves in God's Word and spend time in prayer and fellowship with Him.
I would pray, today, that we would take some time to quiet ourselves before God, and meditate upon Him. As we pour out our hearts and our troubles to Him, we must also take time to just listen. The Holy Spirit within speaks to us, guides us, comforts us, and shows us the way to go.
Master! He is there--access Him; listen to Him!
